It’s not every day we have two MPs visiting Airedale Springs, so we were very excited to host Robbie Moore (MP for Keighley and Ilkley) and Guy Opperman (MP for the Department for Work and Pensions Minister) for the day.
We went through what we did at Airedale Springs and gave them a tour of the facilities. It was great to see how interested they were to learn about our spring manufacturing process and our methods, so we were glad to be given this opportunity.
We also talked to them about our sustainability practices, something that is very dear to us. We work hard to ensure we’re doing our part in helping the UK reduce its net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050, so we were glad to see these efforts recognised.
For example, we have one of the very few manufacturing facilities that are A-rated and have installed 132 solar panels on the roof of the building. Solar energy accounts for almost 20% of all electricity we use in a year.
“We have some fantastic engineering, manufacturing and tech businesses based right across the constituency. It was great to visit Airedale Springs in Haworth with Department for Work and Pensions Minister Guy Opperman MP. A great local business, employing local people producing a whole range of spring products, from compression springs to extension springs ending up in bikes, clocks and water filtration systems, amongst many other products.
They operate from a truly sustainable facility, as their premise in the Worth Valley are one of the very few manufacturing facilities that are A-rated. To create their springs, wire forms and pressings, they use metal that is 100% recyclable.
A great local business.”
We relished the opportunity to speak to Guy Opperman as well, who summarised one of our main goals really well:
Top visit to Yorkshire last week with @_RobbieMoore 👇@AiredaleSprings in #Haworth is applying modern methods and solar power to a traditional engineering business.
Good jobs + helping Britain get to #NetZero. 👍 pic.twitter.com/i68jfg5gaM

It’s true that we strive to deliver our customers the best possible experience and products by using the latest technology. Our CNC coiling and wire-forming machines are top-of-the-range and allow us to create virtually any springs our customers require, from compression springs to custom springs.
Both Robbie Moore and Guy Opperman were also interested in learning more about which opportunities we feel are available to us – especially due to the current situation – so it was great to have the chance to talk to them.
UK manufacturing is undergoing a period of change at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic. So, it’s important that MPs want to become more involved in an industry that is truly a key player in the nation’s economy.
Please get in touch if you’d like to learn more about the work we do and how we can help you. We are able to produce a wide variety of springs no matter how complex their design is, and we always deliver high-quality products for a number of sectors, from electronics to transport.
