It was entirely fitting that the first official visit to the Spring Works in our 70th anniversary year were teachers and Year 6 pupils from Haworth Primary School.
On the 4th February, 21 pupils were given an introduction to the Company and the many types of springs manufactured here.
The youngsters were fascinated by the different machines used and the building construction.
Environmental issues are a key part of their learning and they were impressed by the efforts we had made and how environmentally friendly our factory was.
Our staff did a fantastic job of explaining their responsibilities and demonstrating their skills to our visitors who were not short in asking some searching questions of our setters.
After the event each pupil wrote a letter thanking us for a very enjoyable and informative day. We found the letters encouraging, witty, insightful and inspiring.
The children were a delight and a credit to their school. We look forward to arranging other visits and maintaining close links with the school.
As one pupil pointed out they may well apply for a job with us in the not so distant future!
